Welcome to Washington School of Early Learning, Home of the Little Rockets!  Our school is made up of the youngest learners in the Neenah Joint School District (NJSD).  We offer a variety of Early Childhood (EC) Special Education classrooms for children ranging from ages three to four who qualify for an individualized education plan, and several classrooms to support the students enrolled in the 4K Program.  

Even though our Early Childhood Special Education Program has been in the Neenah Joint School District for many years, the 4-Year Old Kindergarten Program was established in 2016.  With 4K class sizes ranging from 18-22 students, our current staffing allows us to enroll over 300 students annually.  All classrooms at Washington School of Early Learning have a certified teacher and an educational assistant. 

The special education programs offered at Washington School of Early Learning are intended for young children (ages 3-5) who qualify for specially designed instruction or related services. Qualifying students receive services through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).  The student’s IEP determines the student's individual needs, learning goals based on those needs, and describes the amount of services as well as location of services. 

The NJSD 4K Program offers a play-based learning environment.  Play-based learning engages students in thoughtfully planned, hands-on learning experiences that promote language development, literacy, math, reading and science.  Students are exposed to a variety of social skills, such as effective communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and cooperation through play-based learning.  Our approach to play-based learning is linked to monthly thematic units.  Each unit consists of lessons to support: Health & Physical Development, Social & Emotional Development, Language Development & Communication, and General Knowledge, which are aligned to the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards.  Purposefully planned lessons in each area support children's continued success in school.    The 4K Program has two sessions (AM and PM), and is Monday through Friday.
