A familiar face to Neenah Middle School students and staff has been named the school’s new principal for the 2024-25 school year. Jenni Koenecke, who served as the school’s associate principal for the past two years, has been selected to replace Jackie Muñoz-Ellmann. Muñoz-Ellmann was recently named the District’s Assistant District Administrator for Leadership and Engagement. “Jenni brings an unwavering commitment to supporting all students and staff at Neenah Middle School to reach their full potential.” said incoming Neenah superintendent Dr. Steve Harrison. “Her belief that all students can achieve at high levels as well as her desire to collaborate with staff will serve her well as she leads the largest middle school in the state of Wisconsin.” Community and staff engagement has been a priority for Koenecke in leading the school with 1,951 students. She organized community outreach events and implemented a systematic approach to reducing truancy and attendance issues. Koenecke also led opportunities for staff to experience professional development from the nationally-recognized Ron Clark Academy. Koenecke was a founding member of the Fox West Academy in the Hortonville Area School District and taught in the school for 12 years. She also coordinated staff mentoring programs in the District from 2010-20. She previously taught seven years at Greenville Middle School. Koenecke earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UW-Oshkosh. She owns master’s degrees from National Louis University and American College of Education. Her husband, Nate, is a math teacher at Neenah High School.

Eight Neenah Joint School District elementary schools have been honored as Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch Distinguished Schools for their work in implementing programs. Those honored included Clayton, Coolidge, Hoover, Horace Mann, Lakeview, Spring Road, Taft and Tullar Elementary Schools. They were among 27 elementary schools in Wisconsin to earn the honor and 537 elementary schools nationwide. This honor is given to schools for providing broad access to transformative learning experiences for students through PLTW Launch, an elementary STEM curriculum. The Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement and achievement in their PLTW programs. To be eligible for the designation, schools had to have more than 75 percent of the student body participating in the program and had to offer at least one PLTW Launch module at each grade level. PLTW equips PreK-12 students for a STEM-driven world with teacher-empowered curriculum in computer science, engineering, biomedical science and more. For over 25 years, PLTW’s curriculum has supported over 100,000 trained teachers in creating an environment to make every student STEM successful. PLTW reaches 2.5 million students in elementary, middle and high schools in all 50 states.

Lyzette Maroszek has been selected as the new principal at Spring Road Elementary School for the 2024-25 school year. For the past two years, Maroszek has been the principal at Hoover Elementary, which is closing following the 2023-24 school year. Maroszek replaces DianÄ™ Luft, who is retiring. Luft has been at Spring Road for the past five years and worked 34 years in the District. Maroszek was previously the principal at Hawthorn Hills Elementary School in Wausau for three years. Prior to becoming a principal, Maroszek taught eight years in the Howard-Suamico School District, teaching in third, fourth and fifth grades from 2011-15 and serving as a gifted and talented teacher for four years. Prior to her career in education, Maroszek worked in the business field in the Green Bay area for over 18 years.
