How can I nominate someone to the Hall of Fame?
The Hall of Fame nomination period is open through Nov. 30 of each year. A paper form and an online form are available on the NJSD website. Anyone is permitted to nominate and people may nominate themselves. The name of the nominating person will not be announced by the selection committee.
Who is eligible for the Hall of Fame?
One of the unique things about the NJSD Hall of Fame is that anyone who graduated from Neenah High School or had an association or employment with the district is eligible. It is designed to recognize individuals from a variety of different backgrounds. A list of potential categories is included on the nomination form. The only requirement is that nominees must be graduated from NHS for at least 20 years or retired from NJSD for at least five years.
How long does a nomination last?
Nominations are good for eternity, however, nominators are encouraged to continue to provide updated information to enhance the nomination. Those who are not selected in a given year will continue to be considered in following years without the need for re-nomination.
What is the induction ceremony like?
A banquet is held during Homecoming weekend to induct new members to the Hall of Fame. Inductees are honored at the Homecoming football game and parade. The banquet is open to the general public with tickets going on sale in August.
How long is the banquet and what is the dress code?
The banquet has a social hour at 10:30 a.m. and begins with a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Starting in 2018, inductees will be interviewed for 10 minutes to ensure that the banquet ends in a timely fashion and provide a better experience for the audience. It's estimated that including the lunch, the entire banquet will last less than two hours.
How can I sponsor the banquet?
Sponsorship tables are available by contacting Jon Joch in the Administration Building at 920-751-6800 ext. 10105. For $300 sponsors receive eight tickets to the banquet, their name in the program and on a sign at the entrance and their name announced during the banquet. A tax-deductible fund to help support the event is also available by clicking here.
Are deceased individuals eligible for the Hall of Fame?
Absolutely! The intent of the Hall of Fame is to honor those who have helped build such a wonderful school district in Neenah and, sadly, some of those people are no longer with us. If a deceased individual is selected to the Hall of Fame, family members will be invited to take part in the induction ceremony.
Where is the Hall of Fame located?
Plaques honoring the Hall of Fame inductees are on display in Neenah High School on a wall outside the cafeteria.
How can I serve on the selection committee?
The committee has 15 members and is comprised of three five-person groups, consisting of NJSD employees, NHS alumni and at-large members. Each member will serve a three-year term and is eligible for another three-year term. Five members will rotate off the committee each year and, if they do not seek another term, a request will be made for a replacement. Individuals can contact the committee chairperson to indicate their interest in serving. Committee members must be able to attend most or all meetings, have a passion for the Neenah Joint School District, be open-minded to considering nominees from different eras and backgrounds and assist with planning and fundraising for the recognition banquet.
