Neenah High School’s culinary club served up an original recipe for a good cause as part of the Red Cross Soups On! Challenge on Nov. 1.
The event, held at the Grand Meridian in Appleton, is in its 20th year, but welcomed students from local high schools for the first time. Each school worked with a local chef to prepare a soup while also raising money for the Red Cross.
Chef Mike Balistrieri from Cannova’s in Neenah assisted the group in preparing a Pumpkin Bisque Soup with Rocket Relish. Oak Ridge Farms in Neenah donated the pumpkins. The group also received 275 votes, resulting in a $275 donation to the Red Cross.
Students involved were Tyler Allen, Sara Pitts, Jasmine Pates, Allison Rohloff and Madeline Rohloff. The group’s advisor is Deb Garbe. Other high schools that competed were Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Fox Valley Lutheran, Green Bay Preble, Hortonville, Kaukauna, Little Chute and St. Francis Xavier.
