The Neenah Joint School District Board of Education approved a three-year agreement for School Resource Officers at both the elementary and middle school levels at its meeting on February 21.
The District will pay $80,000 for each officer beginning in the 2023-24 school year that covers 75 percent of the salary and benefits for 39 weeks of the year.
In other action, the Board approved a $400,000 contract with Lee Recreation for playground design and installation at Horace Mann as the school transitions to an elementary school in 2023-24. The Board also approved awarding architectural and engineering services at Horace Mann to Somerville, Inc. The project is not anticipated to exceed $100,000 in design fees, but it is the intention to award future projects to Somerville if their work meets District satisfaction. A contract with Ring and Duchateau to perform commissioning consulting services at the new high school was approved for $114,800.
The Board spent a significant portion of the meeting discussing the elementary long-term facility plan. It was recommended that the staff, families and community be involved in the decisions of what the District’s elementary structure looks like. The discussion was a preliminary conversation of what Board members are thinking for a timeline and a process of restructuring the elementary structure and boundaries. The Board came to no consensus and no action was taken. Another discussion will be held at a future meeting to continue moving forward.
The Board approved five alumni as inductees for the District Hall of Fame on October 7. Inductees include Jack Ankerson (Class of 1960), Byron Bell (Class of 1932), Tori Bohannon (Class of 2003), Andrew Coan (Class of 1995) and Marty Robinson (Class of 1987). In personnel moves, Kara Fitzgerald was approved as a District occupational therapist and the resignation of high school teacher Catherine Cops was accepted, effective February 28.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 7 at 6 p.m.
