A 2023 summer school plan and several Board policies were approved by the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education at its Dec. 20 meeting.
The elementary summer academy, middle and high school courses will run June 5-30 to be completed in time for the move to new buildings, but will still satisfy the minimum minutes requirement to receive state funding. Some elementary enrichment courses will be offered in week-long sessions in August. The middle school has added Reading and Writing Workshop and Math Support options and will continue to offer a full slate of enrichment classes. The high school will have a morning and afternoon session and will offer Advanced Placement, ACT prep and college prep courses.
In action items, Board policies were approved in the areas of student accidents, bullying, electronic surveillance and providing notice of educational options to families. The Board approved the hire of Amber Herzfeldt as an educational assistant at Taft. Resignations were approved for Tullar educational assistant Leeah Justman, effective Jan. 20, and Horace Mann teacher Jessica Muller, effective Jan. 24.
The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10 at 6 p.m.
