A proposed health insurance plan for 2023, an offer to purchase the Roosevelt Elementary School building and school calendars for the next three years were all discussed by the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education at its October 4 meeting.
The District plans to use Humana Insurance for the upcoming year. The change was made necessary when WEA Trust decided to leave the insurance industry. Rates will increase by 6 percent for 2023, however, employees will be able to stay with their healthcare providers with few exceptions. There is no change to the Health Savings Account contribution or the plan options. The District will use Humana’s Go365 wellness plan, which is very similar to the current Vitality program. The District also plans to continue using Delta Dental with no increase in premiums. Employees would receive an added benefit of orthodontic coverage. The proposal will be voted upon at the next meeting on October 18.
The Board has had four offers for the Roosevelt property and will vote on October 18 to accept an offer from John Bergstrom for $1 million in cash. The offer is below the asking price of $1.1 million, but it was noted that the offer is the only one without contingencies and the only cash offer.
School calendars for 2023-26 were proposed and rendered no discussion. They will also be voted upon at the October 18 meeting.
In action items, the Board approved the hires of Brady Zuleger as a math teacher at Horace Mann and Valerie Erickson as the absence and substitute coordinator in the Human Resources office. The retirement of Taft teacher Mark VanDuser was approved, effective June 4, while resignations were approved for high school administrative assistant Sharayah Preman, effective October 4, Shattuck educational assistant Lyvia Fuller, effective October 19, and Lakeview educational assistant Katie Zoz, effective October 28.
In the superintendent’s report, Dr. Pfeiffer celebrated that this week is Wisconsin School Board appreciation week and October is National Principal’s Month.
