The Neenah Joint School District’s new middle school for grades 5-8 will be called Neenah Middle School. The name was approved by the Board of Education at its Feb. 1 meeting. It was recommended to the Board following a community vote of five choices. The middle school will occupy the existing Neenah High School beginning in the fall of 2023.
The Board also approved an application to the Department of Public Instruction for a Waiver of Minutes of Instruction for the 2021-22 school year. The request comes following the two days the District was closed in January during a technology breach.
In other action, the hire of Frederick Jean as a District groundsperson was approved. End-of-year retirements were approved for Jeff Zehren, Kurt Krueger and Kelly Keating at the high school, Jill Kruger at Spring Road and Susan Hickey at Clayton and Spring Road. An end-of-year resignation was approved for Shattuck teacher Craig Begalle.
The Board also received a presentation from the Instructional Technology team on the student tech team at Neenah High School and makerspace projects happening across the District.
