Curriculum additions, deletions and revisions (CADR) for the 2022-23 school year were approved at the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education meeting on November 16 along with an agreement with the Village of Fox Crossing for improvements to a District-owned property.
The CADR plan recommends the addition of courses within the art, business information technology, ESL, physical education and technical education departments at Neenah High School. Along with the additions, there are a number of revisions to course offerings at the high school. Shattuck Middle School will change to its integrated math experience to better align with the course sequence to prepare students for Algebra I in eighth grade.
The Village of Fox Crossing will construct a stormwater pond and flood storage area on a 15-acre parcel of District-owned property at the intersection of W. American Drive and Irish Road. The District will sell the parcel to the village and the improvements could assist in the sale of the rest of the property.
Hires were approved for Carol Bredesen as a math interventionist at Horace Mann and Shattuck, Carina Zinda as an instructional library technology specialist at Tullar and Roosevelt, and Mai Youa Vang as an educational assistant at Washington.
The Board also reviewed the 2022 summer school proposal. The courses at elementary, middle school and high school levels are all set to begin on June 13. The Board will vote on the proposal at its Dec. 7 meeting.
The Board honored the state champion girls tennis team, state champion girls tennis doubles team of Sophia Paape and Shelby Roth, and state champion boys cross country runner Austin Henderson for their performances this fall. The Board also recognized Chad and Jenni Oeftger for their selection as representatives to the Team Wisconsin delegation for the Special Olympics USA Games in June in Orlando.
