A 2022 health insurance proposal that provides a seven percent decrease in premiums for employees was presented at the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education meeting on Sept. 21.
The proposal would keep the District’s insurance with WEA Trust, maintain the Health Savings Account contribution and the Vitality wellness program. The primary reason for the decrease in health insurance premiums is due to District employees using the Health and Wellness Center, a low number of high cost claims and a low utilization rate. District employees have had a 68.8 percent utilization rate through June after a 116 percent rate in 2018. The rate reflects the amount of insurance used in relation to premiums paid. The proposal would also retain Delta Dental for dental insurance with a 3.7 percent increase, though dental premiums are significantly lower than health insurance. The proposal will be voted upon at the next meeting on Oct. 5.
In other action, the Board approved hires for Lyvia Fuller and Sandra Campbell as special education educational assistants at Shattuck and April Spielbauer as the administrative assistant for learning and leadership at District office. The transition of Felicia Lauwers from a teacher at Taft to a special education educational assistant at Wilson was also approved. Retirements were approved for District maintenance staffer Richard Voissem, effective Oct. 15, and Wilson teacher Ann Hinzman, effective June 6, 2022.
