An additional 2.5 positions for the upcoming 2021-22 school year were approved by the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education at its May 18 meeting.
The additions include a 1.0 teacher at Horace Mann due to larger than expected registration for sixth grade next fall. There also is an additional 1.5 for special education needs at the elementary level.
The Board also approved NAI Pfefferle as a commercial realtor to sell the District-owned properties at American Drive and Irish Road and at the current Shattuck Middle School location. NAI Pfefferle has agreed to explore options for the Shattuck building and property at no additional cost to the District.
The food service contract with Chartwell’s was extended for the final year of the four-year agreement.
Teaching hires were approved for Corey Knudsen in physical education at Lakeview, Abigail Poliak in health at the high school and Rosilie Lim in computer science at Shattuck. Ann Hatch will take on 0.4 FTE as a school psychologist as Jamie Petersen requested a reduction to a 0.6 FTE. June 7 resignations were approved for Shattuck teacher Jeremy Hunter, Coolidge teacher Sadie Schlafer and Taft teacher Rachel Terry. A June 10 resignation was approved for school nurse Rebecca Jensen. Also, Washington educational assistant Gina Guyette was approved for a one-year leave of absence.
The Board also honored students Andrew Hou, Ethan Hou and Erik Kraus for their perfect ACT scores and Kassidy Franz and Kayleigh Mena as the Board scholarship recipients. The state runner-up girls tennis team was also honored, including state doubles champions Sophia Paape and Shelby Roth.
The next meeting is set for June 1 at 6 p.m.
