A virtual tour of the new Neenah High School consumed much of the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education meeting on February 16.
Members of the Bray Architects design team led the tour that included a virtual walk down the main entrance hallway into the atrium area and down the spirit concourse between the fine arts and athletics areas. They also showcased one of the learning wings and gave in-depth information about the materials that will be used in constructing the school. Board members and student representatives were excited about the designs and Bray indicated that groundbreaking will likely begin in the spring. The school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2023.
The Board also recognized the wrestling team for its accomplishments this season, including senior Drake Hayward, who placed second at the individual state tournament.
A potential future agenda item regarding the crafting of a Board equity statement was discussed. It was determined to add this item to a future agenda along with a discussion of Board values.
There were no personnel moves to approve and no speakers during the open forum. The next meeting is set for March 2 at 6 p.m.
