Chicago first appeared on Broadway in 1975. The musical is based on a play by the same name that is a satire of the corruption of mid-1920’s criminal justice system. It also portrays the concept of a “celebrity criminal.” It is the second-longest running Broadway show behind “The Phantom of the Opera.”
