The Neenah Joint School District community is asked to help name the new middle school that will open at the existing high school in the fall of 2023.
Five finalists have been selected for the final ballot. Anyone living in the District boundary is invited and encouraged to vote through a link on the District website through Friday, January 21, 2022. Residents may only vote once. The winning name will be brought to the Board of Education for approval following the conclusion of the voting period.
The community was invited to submit names for the school in early November. Over 200 names were submitted and a committee trimmed the list to 15. Current middle school students conducted voting at their schools in December to select the five finalists. The new middle school will serve grades 5-8 at the existing high school when Neenah opens a new high school in the fall of 2023. Shattuck Middle School will close and Horace Mann Middle School will become an elementary school. All elementary schools will then serve students in grades K-4.
Names that were selected for the student ballot but did not advance to the final ballot were: Charles B. Clark Middle School, Council Tree Middle School, Katherine Johnson Middle School, Launch Middle School Academy, Marigen Carpenter Middle School, Mathilda Krueger Middle School, The Bridge Academy, Vel Phillips Middle School, Winnebago Rapids Middle School and Winnebago Shores Middle School.
